The
typeface Helvetica originates from Switzerland. The original name being Neue Haas Grotesk it was later changed
to Helvetica after a similar sounding name was proposed meaning in Latin
“Switzerland”, it was changed slightly for they wanted to refrain using a
countries name for a type face. Helvetica was created in 1957 Max Miedinger
with Eduard Hoffmann. Appearing in the film was Massimo Vignelli, an originating Italian designer who designed the logo
for American Airlines and the iconic subway signage in New York City. Also
appearing in the film was Jonathan Hoefler who was named one of
America’s most influential typeface designers. Tobias Frere-Jones and Davis
Carson.

Helvetica brought in Swiss design style seen here.
Designs:
Grunge: In revolt to plain and simple designs grunge designs were scrappy and hard to read leading to a remake of the basic guidelines of type design.
I honestly didn't get anymore design styles out of the movie.
